John has extensive human resources and employment law experience in public and private sectors, with particular experience in higher education and healthcare. He has been involved in conducting workplace investigations for over twenty years. As California State University's Associate Vice Chancellor for Labor and Employee Relations, he headed the CSU's systemwide Equal Employment Opportunity and Whistleblower Protection Unit. This Unit was responsible for investigating all discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and whistleblower complaints made directly to the Office of the Chancellor. It was also the designated review body for all employee and student appeals from CSU campus determinations under its Title IX and DHR Executive Order processes. On leaving the CSU, John then conducted attorney-led workplace investigations for the Californian Employer's Association before starting his practice as a professional neutral. Balancing his workplace investigation practice with his arbitration practice, John conducted over forty investigations last year for a wide range of clients in areas including legal practice, medical practice, higher education, 501(3)(c) organizations, residential care, entertainment and the performing arts, manufacturing, and public sector entities.​​
